Whilst we're admiring totalitarian regimes with a penchant for collective activity, seems timely to pay homage to that which all should aspire to - I give you the 60th birthday celebrations of North Korea.....

Thank you very much and my very best wishes to you,
Did anyone else think the Olympic opening ceremony was worryingly similar to this?
Especially considering that the little girl singing the motherland anthem was miming to a pre-recording done by another girl. Apparently the other girl had a better voice but wasn't as perfect visually so they replaced her.
Completely true. However, there must be some shame because the government run media in China stopped carrying the story pretty fast.
Having just come back from Beijing I must admit the whole thing is about showing perfection. I used to travel there a lot for work, but not for 3 years, and the city is unrecognisable. It is clean, neat, tidy, infrastructure that works - even the taxt drivers are friendlier and safer.

Sad
Is that true, mummy? I knew she was miming but I thought it was her voice at least. That is bizarre and a little sinister.
